For today's artist spotlight I had to go with one of my favorite artists out there Brian Donnelly aka KAWS.
Over the years through rigorous studio practice and working on street culture forms like graffiti, street art, street wear and designer toys he has now reached the realm of Fine Art. Through his evolution of work you can always tell that each piece has a certain type of KAWS methodology. It's a look that is unlike any other out there. Myself being an illustrator and designer his style has been a huge influence and has always inspired me to perfect my craft. To me it's always amazing to see someone starting from the so called "bottom" in things like street art where people think these artists are nothing but low-lifes become one of the worlds greatest fine artists.
Through time his art pieces have seen some exponential growth in both scale and ambition. His massive sculptures have been seen around the world. Every piece seems to have an emotional connection to the viewer. KAWS states that this emotion has always been very important to him & that now he wants to sprint the element of surprise onto the viewer ... I mean how could you not be stunned walking up to a 50 foot sculpture looking like the beautiful Companion sculptures pictures in this post.
